The advantages of such film transfer Over time, old films can become brittle, moldy, and discolored. They can become so brittle that during playback the film can break repeatedly. Also, old splices are prone to breakage. Each playback strains the old films tremendously. Very few people still own a sound and suitable projector on which to play-back these old films. Handling a DVD is, in comparison, much easier. And the duplication of DVDs is inexpensive.
